Tasic Pure Oils products are made with care and a short list of plant-based ingredients — but how you use them makes a real difference to what you get out of them. Here's a practical guide to applying them, and a few things worth knowing before you start.
1. Start With the Right Product
We make ten things, not a wall of single oils. For most people the choice is simple:
- For skin: Exfoljenate — a ritual set containing Liquid Gold 100% Argan, Rejuvenate 100% Rosehip, Glowsturize (a daytime fruit-enzyme gel), Golden Glow Night Repair and Sun Protect SPF50+.
- For hair and scalp: Long and Strong — a three-step shampoo, conditioner and leave-in mist built on aloe vera and coconut, for longer, stronger-looking, shinier hair.
- For body: BotaniCalm Body Wash, and our four palm-oil-free soap bars.
2. Cleanse Before Application
Oils apply more evenly on clean skin or hair, and you're less likely to trap the day's dirt underneath them.
- For skin: wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry — damp, not soaking.
- For hair: wash with a sulphate-free shampoo before applying anything to your scalp or lengths.
3. Apply the Right Amount
Using the right amount matters more than people expect. Too little does nothing noticeable; too much just sits on the surface and feels greasy.
- Face: 2–3 drops, warmed between your palms and pressed gently into the skin.
- Hair: a few drops for the scalp, a coin-sized amount for mid-lengths and ends, depending on your length and thickness.
- Body: start with a teaspoon and adjust for coverage.
4. Use the Correct Technique
- Skin: press and pat rather than rubbing hard. Less friction, more even coverage.
- Hair: massage into the scalp in small circles with your fingertips, not your nails. Then work it evenly along the strands.
- Body: warm the oil between your palms before massaging it in.
5. Timing and Consistency
Consistency does more than any single application.
- Skin: after cleansing and before or after moisturiser, depending on the product — Glowsturize is the daytime step, Golden Glow Night Repair is the night one.
- Sunscreen: Sun Protect SPF50+ goes on last in the morning, and should be applied and reapplied as directed on its own label. Sunscreen is the one step where following the label matters more than following a routine.
- Hair: a weekly treatment or an overnight application works well for deep conditioning.
- Body: as often as suits you.
6. Pair Things Sensibly
- Exfoliate before applying facial oils — Glowsturize or Golden Glow first, oil second, so it isn't sitting on top of dead skin.
- Use Long and Strong as the three-step system it is: shampoo, conditioner, then the Coco Aloe Mist. Mixing in a heavily siliconed product coats the hair, and silicones are the thing a sulphate-free shampoo struggles to shift.
7. Store Them Properly
Keep everything in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Close lids tightly — oxidation is what turns a good oil stale, and heat and light speed it up. A bathroom windowsill is the worst spot in the house.
8. Patch Test Before Use
Natural doesn't mean nobody reacts to it. Apply a small amount to a discreet area like your inner wrist and wait 24 hours before using a new product properly. If anything stings, reddens or itches, stop.
9. Take Your Time
There is no rush to any of this. A few unhurried minutes at the basin is more pleasant than a scramble, and you'll apply things more evenly when you're not in a hurry.
In Short
Clean skin or hair, a small amount, gentle hands, and the same routine often enough for it to be a routine. That's most of it.
